ARTISTS' RESIDENCY
How to apply
Eligibility and selection criteria:
TUARTE invites visual, digital, and multidisciplinary artists to apply for our six-month residency cycle. Rooted in our mission to expand arts education and foster community-driven creativity throughout Puerto Rico, the TUARTE Residency supports emerging and established artists who are ready to deepen their practice while contributing to meaningful cultural work.
Our artistic residency primarily focuses on the visual arts; however, we welcome applications from artists working across a wide range of disciplines, both local and international. We accept proposals from emerging and established artists who demonstrate a strong commitment to their practice and have a solid project ready to be developed during the residency period.
Authenticity and originality are central to our selection process. We are interested in learning who you are as an artist, so we encourage you to clearly and thoughtfully describe your proposed project, as well as your interest in actively engaging with the community.
As a nonprofit organization, TUARTE integrates community engagement into every residency cycle. Artists are invited to actively participate in community classes, workshops, and public art events. This engagement enriches the residency experience and ensures a lasting impact within the community.
Only selected artists will be contacted by January 23, 2026, to confirm their participation and begin the next steps of the residency at TUARTE.
This cycle will host a maximum of four resident artists. Two artists will share the studio located on the second floor, and two artists will share the studio on the first floor. The residency lasts six months and is exclusively designated for these four artists.

Application Process:
Our residency is designed in cycles, allowing us to accommodate artists at different times throughout the year. If you are accepted but the proposed dates do not work for you, we can place your application on hold and consider you for the next available residency cycle once the current one concludes.
Applicants can expect a response within a week of submission. If selected, the next step will be an interview. Following a successful interview, we will send a formal letter of invitation. No special preparations are required until the residency begins at TU ARTE.

We aim to make this opportunity more inclusive. If you need financial support to participate in the residency, scholarship options are available.
